#16 TREE OF LIFE

EDITION 1/1

The sixteenth KLAYRock : EXPERIMENTS drop is a special 1 of 1 artwork not only celebrating life but aiming to remind us all that living life in itself is an act of beauty.

The TREE OF LIFE is an idea and belief that can be seen in religions and cultures all over the world; it’s sometimes referred to as The Tree of Knowledge - the fundamental concept that there is physical, natural entity connecting the realms of life and death, Heaven and Earth. Throughout all the variations of the archetype one thing is always constant - life as we know it, for all living things began from the same point, itself - a living natural phenomena, a symbol of the beauty that is spawned from nature, a symbol of who we are and how we began.

The Tree of Life has always been depicted as a sprawling work of nature, a magnificent fertile tree, bearing fruit - almost always beautiful - a visual cue conveying that life started out from beauty and no matter where we are in life, that living itself should also be considered a gift and a thing of beauty.

TREE OF LIFE

1 OF 1

THE TREE OF LIFE is a digital sculpture re-interpreting the religious and cultural archetype of fertility and life from a modern abstractionist perspective.

The work combines procedurally generated abstract geography, combined with hard materials - from ceramic to gold, to convey a sense of immediate grandeur. The sculpture takes influence from the classical marble beauty that is often seen in renaissance period sculptures.

At the core of the piece, we have an illuminated TREE OF LIFE, acting as a beacon of beauty, highlighting the familiar organic geometry of a tree, in contrast to the abstract shapes that surround it.

To communicate the work’s influence from religion and history, traditional Chinese instrumental samples were used in the accompanying composition, further facilitating a feeling of natural beauty and familiarity.
